10 Social Media Posting Ideas

Don't know what to post to Facebook and Twitter? Here is a list of 10 different types of posts to get you started that will work with almost every multifamily social media strategy. Sample posts have been included.

  1. Resident announcements (snow related, general maintenance related-smoke detectors, paving). Example: For your safety, we'll be replacing your smoke detector batteries from April 13-18. Thanks for your cooperation!
  2. Shout out to good neighborhoods. Example: Thanks to everyone who helped his fellow Avery Apartments residents unbury cars after our March 2 snow storm. Thanks especially to Sam W., Bill T. and Monica G.
  3. Good news from residents (get written permission from the resident). Example: Susie Miller from the E building got into Penn Law School! The Eagle Landings staff congratulates you!
  4. Personal messages from staff that project your personality and have the potential to engage residents. Example: Can you believe that Larry from Leasing is a huge 76ers fan? He only wishes they could win a little more often. Don't you?
  5. Social events announcements (bus trips, parties in the clubroom, pool parties). Example: Don't forget our St. Patricks Day party is March 13 in the clubroom. Join your fellow Xchange Place residents for a Wee Bit of Fun.
  6. Amenity reminders and announcements. Example: Don't forget, there's a daycare center right at Bella Vista. Visit bvistaapts.com for more info. OR The pool opens Friday May 26. Get your pool pass now. Call the leasing office at 222-222-2222 for more information.
  7. Rent's due! Example: Just a friendly reminder that your rent is due Wednesday, February 1.
  8. Interesting links. Make sure you've read the entire article or viewed the entire video you are linking to.
  9. A specific special. Even better, why not try a social media specific bonus. It's best to limit highly commercial messages to about once a month. Example: Resident referral bonus is normally $250, but it's $300 for our Facebook fans now through May 31, 2010. Contact the leasing office more info.
