If you’re on the hunt for a steak cooked to absolute perfection, make a reservation at Union Trust. This independent steakhouse is one of the best in Philadelphia, boasting grass-fed beef, line-caught seafood, and a flabbergastingly good raw bar. This is a mode of dining that has a serious history and tradition, and the staff at Union Trust embraces it. The dining room is large, but designed in a way to give diners maximum comfort and privacy. Service is attentive and utterly professional, and the waiters are extremely informed about the kitchen’s offerings. Union Trust's menu is well-constructed, with special attention going to the beef. You have your choice of Angus beef or 28-day dry aged, in a number of cuts. A variety of sauces and toppers are available – go for the black truffle butter, as it adds tremendously to the steak. Union Steak's raw bar delivers oysters by the dozen, but try one of the seafood towers if you really want to splurge. Union Steak is one of the best dining destinations in all of Philadelphia.

Ithaca, New York’s Moosewood Kitchen has served as an incubator for some of the best chefs in America. Invariably, young culinary talents come there, learn the ways of the fantastic farm to table cuisine, and spread it around the country. Marigold’s Executive Chef Robert Halpern started his journey there and worked at such paragons of inventive cooking as Chicago’s Alinea before moving to Philadelphia and opening Marigold Kitchen. Located in a converted house in an extremely beautiful neighborhood, Marigold’s cuisine combines the latest inventive technology with spectacularly sourced ingredients for a dining experience you won’t soon forget. Each meal begins with a series of amuse-bouches that prepare your palate for some spectacular dishes. The service is attentive and informed, and dishes come out of the kitchen perfectly timed. Expect to drop $100 per person easily but you can’t get cooking of this quality for diner prices.

There are two things to keep in mind before you eat at the lively eatery that is NaBrasa: only visit if you are a true meat eater, and make sure to come hungry! A Brazilian Steakhouse boasting a traditional “Rodizio” serving style, NaBrasa is not your average dining experience. Waiters serve your table from all angles bearing skewers of up to twelve different kinds of succulent meats—from flank steak and sirloin to garlic parmesan-crusted pork tenderloin and grilled chicken—and keep it coming until you advise them to stop. Meals range from $29.95 on weekdays to $34.95 per person on weekends (plus drinks and dessert) and include all the food you could ever want: a gourmet salad bar, a variety of sides like Brazilian cheese bread, mashed potatoes, and fried bananas, a parade of meats, and dessert. Pair your meal with a nice vintage wine or traditional martini and there’s very little that can go wrong with the evening.
