Pearl S. Buck House and Historic Site: Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Pulitzer Prize-winning Author Pearl S. Buck

April 3, 2012 by

One of the few historic sites in the U.S. that educates the public on the contributions of women to society, the Pearl S. Buck House illustrates the extraordinary life of the author, activist, and humanitarian (you probably read her noteworthy novel The Good Earth back in high school). Visitors can tour her 68-acre Bucks County estate, complete with beautifully manicured gardens, greenhouses, a cottage, a milk house, and a renovated barn. Inside Buck’s home, visitors can view a collection of Pennsylvania country furniture, artwork from celebrated artists around the world, and of course, a display of her magnificent awards, including the Pulitzer Prize for literature. Guided tours are offered throughout the year from Tuesday to Saturday for $7 ($6 for seniors or groups of 10 or more) and well worth it for a chance to see the legacy of one of America’s true philanthropists.
