Couch House opened in 1954, which officially makes it Scottsdale’s oldest tavern. Since then, the homey, inviting bar and music venue has earned a reputation as a favorite spot among Scottsdale locals, serving up large, strong mixed drinks (only $4.50 for a cranberry vodka, for example – and not a skimpy one), good music, and free barbecue on the patio. Unlike so many casual, dive-y bars where the bartenders sear you with stares, the bartenders are Coach House are practically famous in Scottsdale for their friendliness and willingness to chew the fat with their patrons! Stop in at night when it’s a little more boisterous, or during the day when it’s laid back and people are grilling and cooling off with a cold lager.
