The Clark County Museum is more than a museum, instead it is an interactive walk through Southwest Nevada’s past. The museum, in fact, spans over 30 acres to include a main exhibit hall as well as preserved, historic homes along Heritage Street. In the main hall, visitors can peruse a time line running from the Ice Age, ancient Pueblo, early mining camps, and Las Vegas’s beginnings as an entertainment hotspot. The Heritage Gallery features revolving exhibits of newly uncovered historical knowledge and artifacts. The highlight, though, is taking a stroll down Heritage Street and peak into homes and businesses from various important eras. Visitors can admire several family homes, a print shop opened in 1890, a quaint wedding chapel, and a 1918 Union Pacific steam engine. The museum is open every day except major holidays and is only $2 for admission.

Hawaiian food can be a hard thing to come across outside of the islands, which is quite a shame—the unique fusion of cultures in America’s fiftieth state has produced some very unique cuisine. Chef Roy Yamaguchi is a master of that food, and shows it off at his chain of restaurants. Stop in at either of Roy’s two locations for a taste of this fusion and more. High-quality ingredients are prepared in a wide number of innovative dishes that will please the palate and not leave you too full. Regulars go ape about the Hawaiian style soy miso-glazed fish dishes, which are tender and incredibly flavorful. For carnivores, the baby back ribs draw raves. Roy’s also offers an innovative sushi menu, with unique rolls exploring the mixed cuisines of the Hawaiian Islands. Dessert lovers all agree that you shouldn’t leave before sampling the decadent chocolate soufflé.

There are plenty of places to play golf in Las Vegas. One standout local golf club is Angel Park. Featuring two eighteen-hole courses designed by the great Arnold Palmer, the facility has received plenty of raves from the local media, who praise its even level of difficulty and very reasonable greens fees. The two courses are somewhat similar – both provide amazing views of Red Rock Canyon and the valley below. The Palms Course is a par 70 with some tricky shots that is primarily flat. The Mountain Course is a par 71 with some more dramatic changes in elevation. One special feature unique to the park is the Cloud Nine short course, which is an agglomeration of holes modeled after some of the world’s great courses, all lit for night play.
