A visit to the Tenement Museum takes you back in time to the Lower East Side's storied past. Tours begin and end at 108 Orchard Street, and take visitors on a journey through the lives and struggles of nearly 7,000 immigrants who lived in tenements and worked hard to make ends meet. Choose from a variety of tours on which you can learn about real families who lived in tenements and survived the Panic of 1873 and the Great Depression, tour the Lower East Side and find out about how things really were back then, and visit 97 Orchard St., which was an actual tenement that laid dormant until 1988, when the museum's co-founders found and revitalized it into the amazing piece of history it is today. Tours run from 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., and you can buy tickets here.
