Cavallino Nero: Homestyle Italian, Down the Shore

This cozy spot could almost be in South Philly. Vito Cassara and his wife Kathy have been serving up Italian classics on Black Horse Pike since 1992, using generations of recipes from Vito’s native Italy. There are no frills here, just pizza that could hold its own in New York and stupendous Eggplant Parmesan. Fettuccine Ammoglio (a garlic, cheese, and plain tomato sauce, topped with grated cheese and toasted almonds) is the unmissable house specialty. Portions are huge, so try not to stuff yourself with the delicious homemade bread! Eat-in or takeout is available, and the full bar will keep you lingering. The kids’ menu is brief but it will keep the little ones happy. Vito’s Italian family would certainly feel at home here, and so will yours.

Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie n’ Oreo Fudge Brownie Bar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 Tablespoon pure vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups (12 ounces) milk chocolate chips
1 pkg Double Stuffed Oreos
1 Family Size (9×13) Brownie mix
1/4 cup hot fudge topping
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cream the butter and both sugars in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed for 3-5 minutes. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well to thoroughly combine. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt, then slowly incorporate into the mixer until the flour is just combined. Stir in chocolate chips. Spread the cookie dough in the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish that’s been lined with wax paper and sprayed with cooking spray. Top with a layer of Oreos. Mix together brownie mix, adding an optional 1/4 cup of hot fudge topping to the mix. Pour the brownie batter over the cookie dough and Oreos. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking for an additional 15-25 minutes. Let cool completely before cutting — brownies may still be gooey in the middle when still warm, but will set up perfectly once cooled. Enjoy!
To half this recipe for an 8×8 brownie mix, simply half the chocolate chip cookie dough ingredients.

Packing Tips For Easy Travel
February 28, 2012 by admin
Travel should be fun! Of course, it usually comes along with the hassles of packing bags and hauling them through a variety of planes, trains, and automobiles. You can streamline those hassles by following these packing tips:
Pack Light
Overpacking takes the case when it comes to travel-related difficulties. Having less stuff to lug around with you will be helpful no matter who you are or where you're going. Take what you need, not what you want, and you'll be off to a good start.
Make a Check List
Come up with a list of what you need to take with you. Doing so will streamline the packing process, saving you valuable time. Lists are also a great way to pack light, as you can organize and prioritize, striking items that you don't really need off of the list.
Roll Your Clothes
A wonderful and easy way to optimize your luggage space is to roll your clothing rather than folding it. Doing so takes up less space, saving you valuable room. You'll be able to take more with you, or take a smaller suitcase!
Bring Food
Rather than spending your preflight time frantically looking for a bite to eat, take a snack or a small meal with you. Packing your own food is a great way to save time, and it will also mean that you're getting exactly what you want while not paying a huge markup.
Split Up Valuables
Make sure that your valuables are spread out between your bags, in the event that something gets misplaced or lost. This is especially helpful if travelling with friends and relatives.

GLAZE:
-1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
-1 Tbsp. milk

Bake until a tester inserted in center of cake comes out clean. 35-40 minutes. Let cake cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes, the turn out of pan onto wire rack to cool.
4. Make glaze: Sift confectioners' sugar in to a small bowl, add milk and vanilla and mix with a fork until smooth. Drizzle glaze over top of cake, allowing some to drip down sides.

Named for Nizam-ul-Mulk, southern India's native ruling sovereigns for centuries, The Nizam's is a perfect place to go for rich flavors and traditional Indian cooking. The style of food is slightly different than some of the more Himalayan-oriented Indian classics, but those familiar with the cuisine won't be disappointed by the additions. Favorites like chicken tikka masala and curries are all on hand, complemented by distinctive vegetarian options and tandoori-basked breads, so there's something for picky eaters and spice-averse diners as well.
