The restaurant serves everything from deep, greasy pizza slices to cheesesteaks, hoagies, and gyros. This eclectic combination may not be much of a local novelty, but Olympia’s standards of freshness and cleanliness (not a sticky tabletop in sight) sets it apart from the pack. Add to that a friendly staff and a range of beverages (including birch beer). The Capital Grille: Sensational Steaks in Philadelphia

Located on Philadelphia’s Avenue of the Arts, the Capital Grille is an old-fashioned steakhouse with respect for tradition. The steakhouse experience is a quintessentially American one – big slabs of beef, carefully-selected sides, and an atmosphere of power and respect are all mandatory. The Capital Grille delivers on all three ably. This is a high-end restaurant that is perfect for a splurge, so come prepared to shell out serious coin in exchange for amazing food. Service is absolute perfection, with knowledgeable, attentive waiters at your beck and call. Start the meal with a cocktail from the fantastic bar and then peruse the menu. Obviously the big draw here is the steaks – dry-aged and cooked to order, they’re among the best steaks in Philadelphia. But there’s plenty of other good stuff on the menu as well. The Kobe beef carpaccio is incredible, as is the lobster bisque. Fans of surf & turf will find a lot to love here as well. If you still have room for dessert, don’t miss the flourless chocolate espresso cake.

Though the upstairs space verges on small, you'll never feel cramped. Bobby Simone’s offers a diverse list of wines, beers, and spirits that complement and enhance the cuisine. Little touches help make the meals memorable, like the red pepper and sunflower seeds in the standard house salad! The burgers are outstanding, with choices like the Black and Bleu Burger with Cajun Seasoning, Danish Bleu Cheese, and Onion Marmalade, and even the option of building your own. Relaxed, unpretentious, and welcoming, Bobby Simone’s is a great spot for dinner or drinks.

Blackfish Restaurant: Bouillabaisse to Die For

December 20, 2011 by

It's easy to see why Le Bec Fin supremo Georges Perrier allowed Chef Charles “Chip” Roman to study at his feet. This kid has talent, which is written all over his efforts at Blackfish. Look no further than how he treats bouillabaisse, such a well-known and well-loved dish that its nuances are often ignored. Roman cooks each element of the stew individually, ensuring that the mussels are as satisfying as the crisp-skinned black bass, without sacrificing the flavor of the complex saffron-anise broth. His intense focus extends to the restaurant itself, where the simple, classic, cozy BYOB atmosphere is subtly reinvented by small touches like bent-spoon napkin rings and balletically graceful servers. If Blackfish was in the city, it would be booked months in advance. Get in while you can.
