The Gateway Theatre: Classic Cinema

Part of the movie theater experience is the theater itself, and not many have the old-time feel as the Gateway. For over 60 years the Gateway has been the place to go to see movies in Fort Lauderdale. But now, it’s also a great place to see indie films! Ticket prices are very reasonable, at just $10 for adults and $8 for seniors, students, kids, and during matinees. Tuesdays are a great time to go to the Gateway, when tickets are just $6, all day. Come in and enjoy the classic décor and comfortable seating. The sound system is great too – perfect wherever you sit. But before you take your seat, don’t forget the popcorn! Many residents think that it’s the best popcorn around. And don’t miss late night features like the Rocky Horror Picture Show and other classics at midnight.

One of the best reasons to live in the Sunshine State is its beaches—because Florida is primarily a peninsula, it has a flabbergasting amount of oceanfront property. One of the most popular of South Florida’s beaches is Fort Lauderdale Beach, seven miles of glistening white sand that welcome hundreds of thousands of sun-seekers ever year. One of the most popular Spring Break destinations in the United States, these glorious beaches have been the subject of a concerted effort to become a year-round spot for the whole family. If you want to get wet, the beach has plenty of areas zoned for boating, jet skiing, snorkeling, and other ocean activities. Fun on the sand and the boardwalk includes volleyball, rollerblading, and just sitting back and watching the parade of humanity go by. Two miles of public beach are lifeguarded by Fort Lauderdale Ocean Rescue, so those are most recommended for families with children.
