Love the adrenaline rush of seeing a great racecar? Then a visit to Simeone Automotive Museum is a must. Many people don’t know that the competitive urge took over almost as soon as the first cars hit the road. Displays of those first racecars include the 1909 American Underslung, one of the first to tear up the track in the U.S. Also on display from the early years of racing are a 1911 Mercer Raceabout, a 1916 Stutz Bearcat, and a 1929 Alfa Romeo. Corvettes, Ferraris, Aston Martins, and NASCAR racers are also among the many cars you can view at the museum. Open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Anson B. Nixon Park: An Oasis In The City

It’s remarkable that a park this size and quality can exist right in the center of Kennett Square, but locals love that it does. Carved out of over 100 acres of the historic Chambers estate, the rolling hills and forests of this park have made it a favorite local destination for decades. Owned and operated by the Kennett Area Parks Association, it’s one of the most scrupulously well-maintained parks in all of Pennsylvania. In addition to walking and enjoying the bounty of nature, the park offers a huge variety of activities, including tennis and volleyball courts, an 18-hole disc golf course, and several multi-use athletic fields. Two artificially stocked fishing ponds play host to the annual Trout Rodeo, and the park’s entertainment pavilion is a great place to see concerts and performances in warm weather, featuring both local and national artists. Every year, the annual Red Clay Cleanup brings people from all over the community to help restore the grounds.
